Saying goodbye to the eternal city of Rome was somewhat depressing but as soon as I arrived at the Termini train station my mind switched to what I had been waiting for my entire trip – the opportunity to cook and learn about authentic Italian food from an Italian grandmother.

As hurricane Gustav just finished its destructive path through Louisiana, my trip to New Orleans several weeks ago was up in the air. Once we received the green light though, I was on my way with about ten of my friends to enjoy “The Big Easy.”
What else can one say about Italy and their cooking? Growing food and cooking is just a part of their genetic make up. It seems every Italian cooks, grows produce, makes wine, or has some culinary related interest.
The one major city which had the most profound effect on me was Paris, France. There is so much history, culture, and art all located in one city! And for a food lover where do you start?
Arriving back in the United States just a few weeks ago has been a difficult process. I say this mainly because of the food depression I have been in (haha). My four week journey throughout Southern Europe, namely Spain, France, and Italy was absolutely incredible and more poignantly unforgettable.
