Roasted Figs, Honey & Ricotta

Recipe provided by Austin Personal Chef: Carlos Crusco Ingredients
  • 6 Mission Figs – cleaned
  • 2 tbsps. Unsalted Butter
  • 3 tbsps – Orange Blossom Honey
  • 1 Orange – juice and zest
  • Whole Milk Ricotta Cheeses
  • Optional: Mint or Sage for garnish
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut an X at the top of the figs halfway through and set aside in a roasting pan. This will help them open up like a flower when they roast in the oven.
  2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat, and whisk in the honey, orange juice and half the zest. Cook for 4-5 minutes until pretty viscous and like a thick sauce.
  3. Drizzle mixture over the figs and roast in oven until soft, about 10-15 minutes. Baste every 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add a few dollops or quenelles of ricotta to the plate and place 3 figs nearby. Keep the leftover sauce warm.
  5. Top figs with the warm sauce and garnish with the other half of the orange zest and mint or sage. Enjoy!
