Any time I am doing cooking classes or demonstrations it seems students find the chef tricks of the trade to be so interesting. Whether it is me sharing with them or them sharing knowledge they picked up from a chef friend, it seems to excite everyone involved.
As we enter into the summer months, the one thing I always look forward to is grilling. There is something nostalgic about the process of cooking on the open grill that makes you feel good and brings back memories with friends and family.
One of my favorite summer vegetables is an impeccably ripe tomato. It’s fresh, light, and juicy – perfect to eat as is or to use in many different dishes. The harvest time for tomatoes is generally from the third week in July until September or early October. There are so many varieties from the little sungolds that pop in your mouth to the Campari’s that are perfect for stuffing to the beautiful heirloom varieties that are just bursting with flavor!
For those of you who garden and harvest your own herbs you know this is the time of year when they just seem to grow and grow.
